On a glorious Monday morning, our match manager was delighted to see 16 members all turning up on time at the New Zealand G.C.  No small miracle!

The course was looking magnificent as we teed off against a very strong Seniors team, assembled from around the UK and comprising of many low handicap golfers.

As we began to return at lunchtime, LGC started to look very strong, winning the first three matches but as we went into lunch the score was LGC 3.5 Seniors 4.5.

After a fine lunch, and a special thanks during lunch to Roger Marrett who is retiring as Secretary of NZGC this year, we fired off from both 1st and 6th tees with the thermometer in the high 20’s.

It was obviously going to be close, as very few matches walked in early even though it was extremely hot!  Everything hung on the last match……which was won on the 18th by the Seniors, meaning that the afternoon was the reverse of the morning and the final score being an 8-all draw.

Well done LGC, as Seniors had a strong side out and this was a fine result.
