With the LGC flag fluttering on the Royal Ashdown Forest G.C. flagpole, this week saw a happy group of golfers exchanging greetings, cheery waves and elbow bumps at we kicked off our golfing year with this ever-popular and challenging match. There was a palpable sense of pleasure at seeing each other again and being able to play golf together. RAFGC did a marvellous job at adapting match arrangements, serving a hot lunch at tables (under the Rule of Six) spaced around the putting green. Fortunately, the weather stayed dry, even if it was a bit chilly at lunchtime, however this did generate some extra revenue for the pro shop as Members sought extra layers!
I’m pleased to report that LGC notched up its first win for the year with a 9.5 – 8.5 result. My thanks to the respective Match Managers, Charlie Cantlay and Charlie Davies for their efforts in making this event such a success.
