This was the fourth encounter of the fixture in honour of the late John Shipton, with both teams playing for the Shipton Pot.
On a damp and windy day the match was closely fought in the morning with Lloyd’s prevailing at lunch with 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 with I believe two matches decided to our favour on the 18th.
The afternoon round was even closer with the match halved with 3 1/2 each side and I am delighted to say that Lloyd’s Golf Club prevailed for the first time by 8 to 6.
Our thanks fo to Andrew Sturdy (LGC) and Simon Clapham (HGS) for their organisation and hard work in making all the necessary arrangements as well as to Royal St George’s for hosting us once again.
