Last week saw LGC Members and their guests battle through the snow to enjoy another excellent evening at the Merchant Taylor’s Hall for the Club’s 2018 Annual Dinner. History was also made in two notable ways.
First, our 2018 President, Richard Ohlson, had the pleasure in being joined by his father, Past President Ken Ohlson (President 1978 and now aged a spritely 94) on his table. This is the first time that the Club has seen father-and-son President and Past President together at the dinner. A proud moment for the Ohlson family.
Secondly, as is traditional, the winners of the previous year’s Summer Meeting knock out were presented with the Cyril Winter Putter. This year was notable as the winners included Helena Mortimer, the first lady to win this highly prestigious trophy, together with her partner Stephen Tillie. Helena’s parents. Adrian and Sarah Mortimer, were also present to witness the occasion, being guests on Stephen Wilcox’s table.
We look forward to strong support for next year’s Annual Dinner (on Thursday 7 March 2019) which will be the Club’s 125th. Please mark your diaries now!
